The Uttar Pradesh Forest Department captured the fifth 'killer' wolf on Tuesday, with one still on the loose. The wolves were behind several attacks on villagers in Bahraich. The captured wolf has been taken to a rescue shelter.

Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Ajeet Pratap Singh informed ANI, 'We have caught the fifth wolf. One remains, and we will capture that wolf soon. We are doing our best every day to catch the remaining wolf.' Singh also mentioned that the captured wolf is female and the search for the remaining wolf continues.

The operation to capture the wolf began early in the morning, from 5:30 to 6:30 am. Unlike previous operations, drones were not used for the final capture as the wolves had learned to evade them. However, drones were employed to determine the wolves' locations. Another attempt to capture the last wolf is ongoing, with heightened village vigilance.

Chief Forest Conservator Renu Singh praised the success, noting that five wolves have been captured so far. Singh elaborated on the tactics employed, including setting nets after tracking pug marks. The final wolf will also be sent to a zoo upon capture.

"Operation Bhediya" was launched to catch a pack of wolves attacking 25-30 villages in the Bahraich region, resulting in nine deaths and over 40 injuries. The forest department installed snap cameras to monitor wolf movements, aiding in their capture.
