Former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has requested the Chief Justice of India, Dhananjaya Chandrachud, to order a high-level judicial probe into the operations of Central and state investigative agencies in Chhattisgarh.
In a letter dated September 21, Baghel alleged that attempts were being made to falsely implicate him in various scams being investigated by these agencies. He warned that if the alleged misuse of these agencies for political vendetta is not halted, it could lead to a pervasive atmosphere of fear within the state.
Baghel's letter also detailed an alleged meeting between a senior IPS officer and a key accused in a coal levy scam, aiming to coerce the accused to name Baghel as a beneficiary. He urged the CJI to scrutinize the role and actions of these agencies to preserve the Constitution's supremacy.
