In Chhattisgarh's Sukma district, two Naxalites were killed in an encounter with security personnel on Tuesday. According to the police, their colleagues managed to take their bodies away.

The skirmish took place on a forested hill near the Chintavagu River, within the jurisdiction of the Chintalnar police station. A joint operation was being conducted by the District Reserve Guard, Bastar Fighters, and the elite CoBRA unit of CRPF when the confrontation occurred, stated Sukma Superintendent of Police Kiran Chavan.

The security personnel were engaged in an anti-Naxalite operation in the Karkanguda area, which commenced on Monday night. They encountered Naxalites from the Jagargunda committee and members of the Maoist PLGA battalion, leading to an intense gun battle. Reliable sources indicated that the Naxalites managed to drag their colleagues' bodies into the forest, utilizing the swollen Chintavagu River for cover. A significant cache of Maoist-related materials was recovered from the site.
