Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday criticized the Uttar Pradesh government, alleging that statistics of police encounters indicate the ''injustice of illegal killings'' and target the PDA communities—backwards, Dalits, and minorities.
Yadav shared data claiming that 60% of those killed in these encounters belonged to the PDA communities, although the data lacked a verified source. His comments follow the recent death of Mangesh Yadav, a suspect in a high-profile robbery case, in an alleged police encounter.
UP Director General of Police, Prashant Kumar, refuted these accusations, stating that the police act impartially in situations involving armed confrontations with suspects.
