In Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, a local panchayat took a unique approach to resolve an issue involving obscene pictures of a young woman. A 22-year-old man was accused of sharing doctored images of his 18-year-old relative with her potential grooms, damaging her marriage prospects.

To address the situation, the woman's family gathered the panchayat in Hardua Kifayat Ullah village, where block chief Pragya Gangwar confirmed the man's actions. The panchayat decided on a traditional punishment: a beating with shoes administered by the woman's mother, followed by forgiveness from the community.

Village head Afsana noted that the decision was made to avoid involving the police, which could jeopardize the young man's future. The resolution concluded with no legal action, despite the obscene photos going viral on social media. However, Bareilly Superintendent of Police (North) Mukesh Chandra Mishra indicated that an investigation would be conducted.
