Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday defended the police action that led to the fatal shooting of Akshay Shinde, the accused in the Badlapur school sexual assault case.
Akshay Shinde, who allegedly assaulted two schoolgirls where he worked, was killed by police in what authorities claim was self-defense. Shinde supposedly snatched a police officer's gun and fired during transportation from Taloja jail to Badlapur.
Opposition leaders are questioning the official account, alleging possible foul play and calling for a judicial probe into the incident to ensure transparency and accountability.
