The BJP on Thursday condemned the Congress party for a police lathi-charge in Himachal Pradesh on protesters demanding the demolition of an allegedly illegal portion of a mosque in Shimla. The party urged the Congress to end its 'appeasement politics.'
Speaking at the BJP headquarters, Party MP and national spokesperson expressed outrage over the incident, including similar unrest in Karnataka's Mandya district, where stones and slippers were allegedly thrown at a Lord Ganesh idol. The Congress governs both Himachal Pradesh and Karnataka.
Violence erupted in Shimla on Wednesday as protesters clashed with security forces, resulting in 10 injuries. In Karnataka, 46 arrests were made following clashes during a Ganesh idol procession. The BJP demanded a thorough investigation into the mosque's legality in Shimla.
