The Congress on Saturday questioned the silence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah over the alleged sexual assault on an Army officer's fiancée while in police custody in Odisha. The party also cited other incidents of violence against women in BJP-ruled states.

The congress demanded immediate dismissal of the police officials involved in the Odisha brutality, a judicial probe into the case, and the establishment of an Ex-Servicemen Commission similar to the SC/ST Commission.

Congress leader Ajoy Kumar detailed the incident in Odisha where men misbehaved with the fiancée of an Army captain and she was beaten along with her companion when they attempted to lodge a complaint. He lamented the silence of Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on the matter.
