India and China have committed to accelerating their efforts to achieve complete disengagement at the remaining friction points in eastern Ladakh. This development came after Indian National Security Advisor Ajit Doval held discussions with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in St. Petersburg, with a primary focus on resolving the ongoing border standoff.
Doval emphasized that peace and tranquility in the border areas, as well as respect for the Line of Actual Control (LAC), are crucial for normal bilateral ties, according to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). The talks took place on the sidelines of a BRICS national security advisors' conclave.
The meeting offered a platform for reviewing recent efforts towards an early resolution of the issues along the LAC, aiming to create conducive conditions for stabilizing and rebuilding bilateral relations. Both sides recognized the significance of their bilateral relationship not only for their own countries but also for the region and the world.
