During a press interaction at the National Press Club in Washington DC, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, strongly criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led Central Government for its handling of the border standoff with China. Gandhi stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has not managed the situation effectively.

"We've got Chinese troops occupying land the size of Delhi in Ladakh, and I think that's a disaster. The media doesn't like to write about it," he stated, suggesting that no American president could justify such a scenario. He highlighted the 2020 clash between Indian and Chinese troops at Galwan and ongoing tensions since May 2020, emphasizing the need for a decisive stance on the issue.

Criticizing China's non-democratic production model, Gandhi called for a democratic and free society's production vision, particularly between the U.S. and India. He also discussed the ideological battle between the INDIA bloc and BJP-RSS and proposed support for small and medium businesses to foster a decentralized production system. Highlighting his objectives as the Leader of Opposition, Gandhi underscored the importance of defending India's institutions and creating employment opportunities through enhanced manufacturing.
