Police on Thursday announced the arrest of two out of six suspects involved in the assault of two young army officers and the rape of their female friend near Mhow, Madhya Pradesh.
The arrests came amidst public outrage, with prominent political leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi criticizing the BJP for its alleged failure to ensure law and order in the state.
According to officials, the incident occurred early Wednesday on the Mhow-Mandleshwar road. The accused first targeted one of the officers and his female companion, later attacking the second officer and his friend who intervened. Medical examinations confirmed the assault, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects.
