Himachal Pradesh minister Anirudh Singh on Thursday claimed that former chief minister Jai Ram Thakur gave Rs 2 lakh for the construction of a portion of the Sanjauli mosque during his tenure. Singh accused the BJP of now trying to disturb peace in the state.
Jai Ram Thakur dismissed these claims as baseless, asserting that the Congress minister is lying to cover his own failures. Thakur believes Singh is under pressure from the Congress high command to change his narrative.
Speaking alongside Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh, Anirudh Singh stated that the mosque segment was constructed during the BJP's rule and argued the BJP is politicizing the issue to create unrest. They also praised a Muslim welfare committee for pledging to demolish the unauthorized construction. Thakur countered by noting growing public anger over police action during a recent protest.
