Police in Pilibhit have filed a case against five family members, accused of molestation and causing harm to a woman.

The 26-year-old victim, originally from Nepal, was brought to India under false pretenses of employment 13 years ago. She was subsequently forced into marriage and converted to the accused's religion.

The case was registered after the woman expressed her ordeal at a local meeting against religious conversion. She detailed how the accused disguised their identity to lure her to India and subjected her to repeated sexual assault and threats.

Charges were filed late Monday evening, involving three brothers, their mother, and a maternal uncle, under multiple sections of the Bhartiya Naya Sanhita (BNS) including criminal intimidation and disrobing modesty.

Inspector Gajendra Singh of Puranpur Police station stated the victim alleged ongoing physical and mental harassment by her in-laws. Police are actively investigating to gather further evidence and ensure justice is served.
