A special POCSO Act court has sentenced a man to five years' imprisonment for molesting a young girl in his neighborhood, describing such cases as indicative of an ''inhuman mindset.''
Special judge Priya Bankar ruled against the accused on September 3. She stated that child sexual abuse cases reflect the perpetrator's inhuman mindset, causing severe psychological damage to the victim, her family, and society at large.
The court noted that the incident, which took place in November 2017, has long-lasting mental health implications for the nine-year-old victim. The accused lured her to his house, exposed her to obscene videos, and inappropriately touched her. The Mahim police registered an FIR following a complaint from the victim's mother, with the prosecution successfully proving guilt through key testimonies.
