The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) on Monday refuted allegations of misinformation being spread about its role in a tragic drowning incident involving a mother and her child near Ghazipur paper market. The DDA clarified that the drain where the incident occurred falls under the Municipal Corporation of Delhi's (MCD) jurisdiction.

Despite the jurisdiction issue, the Delhi High Court has ordered the DDA to pay Rs 20 lakh in compensation to the legal heirs of the deceased. The DDA, while expressing willingness to comply, emphasized that this move is purely humanitarian and does not admit any liability on their part.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) accused the DDA and the Delhi Lieutenant Governor (LG) of spreading falsehoods. AAP spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar criticized the LG and demanded his resignation, asserting that the High Court's decision vindicates their position. The controversy continues as vested interests are advised to avoid misleading rhetoric.
