The Special Court, which handles cases involving MLAs and MPs, demanded the presence of Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker M Appavu on September 13 to respond to a defamation case.
Special Judge G Jayavel adjourned the hearing to Friday in response to a defamation complaint filed by AIADMK Advocates wing Joint Secretary R M Babu Murugavel.
Murugavel claimed that during a book release, Appavu alleged over 40 AIADMK MLAs were willing to join DMK following AIADMK leader J. Jayalalithaa's death. He added that DMK leader M K Stalin rejected this offer, damaging the MLAs' reputations. Hence, the complaint.
