India's mining industry has reported significant growth, particularly in iron ore production, which increased by 3% to 182.6 million tonnes during the April-November period of the current fiscal year, according to provisional data.

The mines ministry highlighted a surge in the country's manganese ore production, which rose by 9.5% to 2.3 million tonnes compared to the year-ago period. Chromite production similarly increased, reaching 2 million tonnes, while bauxite saw an 8.9% jump to 15.9 million tonnes.

Furthermore, in the non-ferrous sector, primary aluminium production climbed by 1.1%, indicating robust economic activity in sectors such as energy, infrastructure, and construction. India remains a significant player globally, being the second-largest aluminium and fourth-largest iron ore producer.
