The Kremlin on Monday dismissed a Wall Street Journal report alleging that Iran had supplied short-range ballistic missiles to Russia. According to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, while Iran is a crucial partner, not all reports are accurate.

The Wall Street Journal cited unnamed U.S. and European officials who claimed that Iran had sent the missiles. Peskov, however, highlighted the growing economic and cooperative ties between Russia and Iran, particularly after Russia's incursion into Ukraine in February 2022. Iran has also supplied Shahed drones to Russia's military.

Senior Revolutionary Guards commander Fazlollah Nozari called the missile transfer reports 'psychological warfare.' The United States warned that such transfers would signify a severe escalation in the Ukraine war.
