A tragic incident occurred in Pune, Maharashtra, as a 36-year-old woman lost her life and three others sustained injuries after a tempo driven by a person in an allegedly inebriated state collided with five vehicles, police reported on Monday.

The fatal accident took place at approximately 9:15 PM on Sunday on Paud Road in the Kothrud area. The driver, identified as Ashish Pawar, aged 26, has been detained and charged under pertinent sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Motor Vehicles Act, an official confirmed.

Authorities revealed that Pawar, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, recklessly drove the tempo on Paud Road, hitting several vehicles, including two-wheelers. Gitanjali Amrale tragically died in the incident, while her husband Sambhaji Amrale and two others, Sahol Pite and Madhuri Dahotre, sustained serious injuries and are receiving medical care in a private hospital. The police continue to investigate the incident further.
