Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra spoke out Sunday about Harish Patel, who was allegedly forced to 'sell' his son to pay for his wife and newborn's release from a private hospital.

Unable to pay the fee, Patel agreed to a fraudulent adoption deed for a few thousand rupees. Officials stated that the hospital demanded Rs 4,000 for treatment, which Patel couldn't afford, leading to his act of desperation. The incident has ignited public outrage, and police have arrested five individuals involved, including the couple who took the child and a complicit police constable.

Gandhi criticized the government's inaction, questioning the effectiveness of existing schemes and pointing out that many poor families are trapped by high-interest micro-finance loans. The investigation continues as the rescued child is safely returned to his family.
