Russian shelling resulted in the deaths of five individuals in the Donetsk region of eastern Ukraine on Saturday, according to local officials. Among the deceased, three were killed in Kostyantynivka and two men near Toretsk, around 20 km southeast.
Vadym Filashkin, the Donetsk region governor, reported the casualty figures through a post on Telegram. He specified that the victims in Kostyantynivka included men aged between 24 and 69. The shelling also damaged several structures and injured four individuals, including a 57-year-old woman who sustained a shrapnel wound and head injury.
The town of Kostyantynivka, once an industrial hub of 70,000 residents, has frequently been targeted by missiles and artillery as the frontline advances. Due to the escalating threat, authorities imposed a compulsory evacuation of families with children in August.
