The Bombay High Court has determined that significant lapses and loose ends mar the police investigation into the murder of ex-Shiv Sena corporator Abhishek Ghosalkar, leading it to transfer the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Headed by Justice Revati Mohite Dere, the division bench acted upon a plea from Tejasvee Ghosalkar, the deceased's wife, who questioned the thoroughness of the Mumbai police probe. The court highlighted that several critical angles had not been explored, which could result in a miscarriage of justice.
Ghosalkar's cold-blooded murder was captured live on Facebook. Businessman Mauris Noronha shot Ghosalkar at the latter's Borivali office and then killed himself. Despite police efforts claiming all angles have been probed, the High Court found numerous suspicious circumstances unaddressed, deeming it crucial for public confidence to hand over the investigation to CBI.
