The Supreme Court on Friday dismissed a PIL seeking to regulate exit polls, stating that it's time to focus on governance instead of election matters.
A bench led by Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud and Justices J B Pardiwala and Manoj Misra called the PIL a 'political interest litigation' and decided to close the issue.
'The government is already elected now. Let us close the saga of what happens during elections and get on with governance in the country,' remarked the CJI. The court noted that the poll panel is competent to handle such issues and dismissed the plea filed by B L Jain.
