Two individuals, including a disc jockey, were arrested for allegedly assaulting a tehsildar in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, after he requested them to stop using amplifiers at a religious event, according to an official statement.
The incident took place in Ujjain, the constituency of Chief Minister Mohan Yadav. His first directive upon assuming office last December was to ban the use of amplifiers at religious events.
"DJ Dheeraj Singh Sondia and Vinod Singh attacked Tehsildar Irshad Khan with sticks after he asked them to cease playing loud DJ music at a function in Mahidpur, roughly 40 km from the district headquarters," stated Additional Superintendent of Police Nitesh Bhargava on Thursday.
The attackers have been apprehended, and the tehsildar received medical treatment, including three stitches on his head, at a local facility before being advised to undergo an MRI at the district hospital.
A video on social media showed Khan pressing a handkerchief to his head and covering the wound as he was driven to the hospital, with blood visible on his shirt.
