Defamation Case Hearing Against Rahul Gandhi Deferred Again
The MP-MLA court in Sultanpur has once again deferred the hearing of a defamation case against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to September 19 due to the plaintiff's ill health. This case, filed by BJP leader Vijay Mishra in August 2018, revolves around objectionable remarks allegedly made by Gandhi in 2018.

The MP-MLA court in Sultanpur has postponed the hearing of a defamation case against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi once more, rescheduling it to September 19. The delay was attributed to the plaintiff's ill health, according to lawyer Santosh Kumar Pandey.
The case has seen multiple deferrals, most recently on August 23 when the court set September 5 for the hearing, and earlier on August 12 due to the special judge being on leave. The complaint was originally filed in August 2018 by local BJP leader Vijay Mishra over alleged objectionable remarks made by Gandhi during the Karnataka elections.
Gandhi had surrendered to the court on February 20 during the 'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra' and was granted bail on two personal bonds of Rs 25,000. The court has since issued several notices requiring him to record his statement, which he did on July 26. The next hearing date is set for September 19, when the plaintiff is expected to present evidence.
