An inter-ministerial team from the Central government commenced its evaluation of flood-affected districts in Andhra Pradesh on Thursday. The team, headed by Sanjeev Kumar Jindal, conducted an on-ground assessment in Vijayawada, the most severely hit area.

The Central team also reviewed operations at the State Emergency Operations Centre in the Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) office in Tadepalli. Officials briefed them on the impact of torrential rains and subsequent flooding.

Later, a visit to Prakasam Barrage highlighted the damage caused by three drifting boats that collided with a concrete beam. With floodwaters receding in multiple areas, civic body personnel in Vijayawada are actively engaged in sanitation and restoring water supply. However, Municipal Commissioner HM Dhyanachandra warned that restored tap water remains non-potable due to heavy silting.
