The 59th Executive Committee (EC) meeting of the National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG), chaired by Shri Rajeev Kumar Mital, Director-General, NMCG, sanctioned critical projects totaling ₹794 crores, aimed at conserving and rejuvenating the Ganga River. These initiatives underscore the commitment to ensuring cleanliness, sustainable development, and the preservation of the river’s environmental and cultural significance. Key Projects Approved
Uttar Pradesh:
Chandauli Project (₹263 Crores):
Construction of a 45 MLD Sewage Treatment Plant under the Hybrid Annuity Model.
Development of supporting structures for effective sewage management.
Operation and maintenance (O&M) for the next 15 years to ensure sustainability.
Manikpur Project (₹9 Crores):
Establishment of a 15 KLD Faecal Sludge Treatment Plant.
Installation of a 35 KW solar power plant for eco-friendly operations.
O&M for five years, promoting efficient waste management.
Bihar:
Buxar Project (₹257 Crores):
Construction of a 50 MLD Sewage Treatment Plant under the DBOT model.
Inclusion of a 1 MLD nature-based STP for sustainable solutions.
Development of an 8.68 km sewer network and three interception pumping stations.
Comprehensive O&M plan for the next 15 years.
West Bengal:
Uttarpara-Kotrung Municipality Project (₹8 Crores):
Development of a 22 KLD capacity Faecal Sludge Treatment Plant under the DBOT model.
Provision for five years of O&M to ensure long-term effectiveness.
