Communal tensions flared in Jainoor as tribal organizations protested an alleged attempted rape and murder of a tribal woman by an autorickshaw driver. The protest turned violent, leading to arson and property damage. Authorities imposed a curfew and an internet ban to prevent rumors and fake news from spreading.
The accused driver was arrested after the victim regained consciousness and reported the incident. Authorities have deployed additional police forces, including the Rapid Action Force, to restore order. Talks with community elders helped pacify the situation temporarily.
Reacting to the unrest, Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar and AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi called for swift action against the perpetrators and warned against communal violence. Investigations are ongoing to identify and punish those responsible for the violence.
