Gujarat Congress chief Shaktisinh Gohil on Wednesday criticized the BJP government for the severe waterlogging affecting multiple areas in the Kutch district. He called for substantial compensation for the damage to property and crops, attributing the crisis to administrative corruption and inaction.
During a press conference in Bhuj city after surveying the rain-affected regions, Gohil identified improper waste disposal and the administration's negligence as key factors behind the man-made disaster. He highlighted that small traders and the timber market experienced significant losses due to flooding and urged the municipal authorities to take remedial action immediately.
Raising concerns about disease outbreaks, Gohil also linked the waterlogging to illegal road constructions for windmills, obstructing natural water flow. He emphasized the need for a sensitive administration and criticized the inadequate restoration of electricity and lack of relief packages for affected farmers. Despite the severe rainfall last week in Kutch and neighboring districts, Gohil underscored the necessity for a detailed government response to address these pressing issues.
