Former Atlas Cycles President Salil Kapoor allegedly took his own life at his Lutyens' Delhi home on Tuesday, according to authorities.
A suicide note found at the scene mentioned financial burdens and harassment by four individuals, prompting a thorough police investigation from all possible angles.
Kapoor, found with a bullet wound to his head, was discovered by his manager near the puja room of his residence around 1 p.m. He was rushed to a hospital but pronounced dead shortly after arrival. His sister-in-law, Natasha Kapoor, had also committed suicide in the same house in January 2020.
Initial reports indicate Kapoor may have used a licensed revolver to shoot himself. His wife and children were living separately, with his wife reportedly in Dubai. Forensic and crime teams have been dispatched to examine the site.
Kapoor had previous legal issues, including an arrest by the Economic Offences Wing of Delhi Police in 2015 for two cheating cases involving ₹9 crore. In one case, he was accused of cheating a complainant over capital gain bonds, with a ₹25,000 bounty announced during the investigation.
