Four illegal dyeing units operating in Matiala were sealed on the orders of Delhi Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena, according to a statement from Raj Niwas on Monday.
Officials indicated that the crackdown followed a complaint raised by a concerned citizen on the social media platform X. The units, located in Galibpur village on Matiala's outskirts, were found polluting the Yamuna River and illegally extracting groundwater. The complaint, posted on August 29, tagged the Lt. Governor along with ministers Gopal Rai and Saurabh Bhardwaj.
In response, the Raj Niwas handle acknowledged the complaint and assured an investigation with the possibility of penal action. Subsequently, Saxena instructed the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), Delhi Police, and the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) to take immediate action. A joint inspection on Sunday revealed the illegal jeans dyeing operations, which violated the Delhi Master Plan. The MCD confiscated materials and sealed the premises. More such drives are planned in the coming weeks.
