Egyptian authorities have detained two Israeli citizens after they allegedly assaulted three hotel employees in the Red Sea town of Taba, a security official confirmed on Sunday.

The incident, which took place near the Israeli border, left three Arab Israeli tourists and two Egyptian hotel workers injured. It reportedly began when an Arab Israeli tourist insulted an Egyptian hotel employee, escalating into physical violence.

Local media reported that one of the Egyptian workers suffered serious injuries. The dispute is said to have started over a payment disagreement for hotel services. The detained Israelis will remain in custody for four days as the investigation proceeds.
