In a shocking incident, Vanraj Andekar, a former corporator of the Pune Municipal Corporation, was shot dead and attacked with sharp weapons by unidentified assailants on Sunday night, police officials reported.
Andekar, a previous affiliate of the Nationalist Congress Party, was ambushed in the Nana Peth area. He was declared dead upon arrival at KEM Hospital, where medical authorities confirmed multiple sharp weapon injuries.
Joint Commissioner of Police Ranjan Kumar Sharma disclosed that five rounds were fired at Andekar, with the attackers using long-blade sickles to inflict further injuries. Andekar's body has been sent to Sassoon Hospital for postmortem as the investigation continues.
