An FIR has been lodged against three individuals at the city police station for allegedly threatening BJP MLA Rajesh Chaudhary, police reported on Sunday.

The FIR names Ravindra Jatav, Azad Ansari, and an unidentified person. They face charges under BNS sections 351 (4) and 352, and section 67 of the IT act for criminal intimidation and provocative insults.

Chaudhary, the MLA from the Mant seat of Mathura, alleged that on the night of August 25, he received a threatening call targeting him and his son. Another call on August 30 used abusive and casteist slurs, stating, 'you give a lot of statements on TV. We will see you. Our leader has ordered us to kill you.'

The MLA also reported that a Rs 10 lakh reward was announced on social media platform 'X' for anyone who cuts off his tongue. Additionally, various threatening posts against him have surfaced online.

Chaudhary sparked controversy during an August 23 TV discussion by calling former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mayawati the most corrupt leader. His remarks were strongly criticized by Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav and Azad Samaj Party chief Chandrashekhar Azad.
