The search for 48-year-old G. Vijaya Lakshmi, who fell into a sinkhole in Kuala Lumpur on August 23, has been officially halted after nine days of intense efforts. Authorities deemed the conditions too challenging to continue.

Minister Dr. Zaliha Mustafa announced the termination of the search operation, citing detailed evaluations and advice from experts and technical authorities. The search faced numerous obstacles, including unsafe conditions and the appearance of a second sinkhole.

Efforts to locate Lakshmi will now transition to other agencies, with Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) handling utility mapping and land structure analysis to ensure public safety. The victim's family has been informed and their visas extended for another week.
