Rajya Sabha MP and senior advocate Kapil Sibal on Saturday criticized the abysmal working conditions for district court judges, revealing that inadequate salaries and infrastructure severely impact the justice delivery system.
Addressing the 'National Conference of the District Judiciary,' Sibal stressed that the low quality of trial court conditions is symbolic of a deeper systemic malaise affecting democracy. He called for urgent improvements to ensure better justice delivery, citing liberty as the foundation of a thriving democracy.
Noting the overburdened rosters and lack of support staff in district courts, Sibal emphasized the need for significant reforms to attract talented young professionals and improve the overall efficiency and fairness of the judicial system.
