Deputy President Paul Mashatile is set to visit Limpopo on Friday to assess the progress of various intervention projects aimed at improving water services in the Greater Giyani Local Municipality. This visit is part of his role as Chairperson of a task team dedicated to resolving water challenges across the country.

The task team, an institutional coordinating mechanism, brings together key government stakeholders to provide leadership and technical assistance in addressing the country's water service challenges.

"The two-day oversight visit aims to ensure that surrounding communities in Giyani have access to functional basic water supply infrastructure and to address the long-standing water backlog in the area," stated the Presidency.

During the visit, Deputy President Mashatile will tour the Nandoni Dam Pump Station before assessing other critical projects, including the Xikukwana Canal, the Giyani Water Treatment Works, and a reticulation project in Nwakhuwani.

He will also engage with local communities at the Thomo Community Hall to discuss the government's progress in improving water service reliability and promote transparency regarding water issues affecting various communities.

Accompanying the Deputy President will be Water and Sanitation Minister Pemmy Majodina, Deputy Ministers David Mahlobo and Isaac Seitlholo, Limpopo Acting Premier Basikopo Makamu, members of the Limpopo Provincial Executive Council, district and local Mayors, and representatives of traditional leadership.
