The district administration has initiated legal action against village head Jabir for allegedly defrauding a grieving family of Rs 6 lakh from their ex-gratia amount.

The incident traces back to June 18, when four sisters tragically drowned in the Kuano River at Kalu Bankat village. Following their deaths, the state government deposited Rs 16 lakh into the family's bank account on July 16 as compensation.

A complaint was filed by the mother of the deceased sisters, which led to an investigation. District Magistrate Pawan Agarwal confirmed that the allegations against Jabir were proven true, establishing that the village head took Rs 6 lakh under false pretenses of forwarding it to senior officials.
