U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Friday that its forces, in conjunction with the Iraqi Security Forces, conducted a raid in western Iraq on August 29. The operation resulted in the deaths of 15 ISIS operatives.

CENTCOM disclosed that the ISIS faction was heavily armed with weapons, grenades, and explosive suicide belts. Notably, there were no civilian casualties reported. According to the Associated Press, seven American soldiers were injured during the joint operation.

Of the injured, five were hurt in combat, and two suffered injuries from falls, as per a U.S. military official. All personnel were reported to be in stable condition. The U.S. Department of Defense has yet to comment on the injuries.

Earlier in the month, at least five U.S. personnel were injured in an attack on a military base in Iraq. Following these incidents, the Iraqi foreign ministry announced a postponement in declaring an end date for the U.S.-led coalition's mission due to recent developments.

Reuters had reported in March that negotiations between the U.S. and Iraq regarding the coalition might extend until after the U.S. presidential elections in November. Iraq, a unique ally to both the U.S. and Iran, currently hosts 2,500 U.S. troops and has Iran-backed militias integrated into its security forces.
