Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena handed out appointment letters to 627 newly appointed employees on Friday, including 27 doctors, in a ceremony held at Vigyan Bhawan.

Saxena highlighted the expedited recruitment process by the Delhi State Subordinate Services Recruitment Board (DSSSB), which aims to fill 20,000 government positions by March 2025 to address vacancies in various city departments.

Emphasizing a commitment to ending ad hocism and promoting transparency in government jobs, Saxena noted that over 17,000 permanent positions have been filled by the DSSSB in the past two years, surpassing the total appointments made in the last decade.

New recruits have been assigned to departments such as education, health, and family welfare, among others. Saxena also stressed the importance of honest and dedicated work from the new employees, aligning with the Prime Minister's vision of 'Viksit Bharat' by 2047.

Delhi Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar called for a roadmap for capacity building and a secure examination system, while DSSSB Chairman Shurbir Singh stated that examinations were conducted for 177 posts, with around 18,000 vacancies in various stages of recruitment.
