The National Centre for Good Governance (NCGG) inaugurated the 33rd Capacity Building Programme (CBP) for civil servants from the Maldives today in Mussoorie. Running from September 9th to 20th, 2024, this two-week training program is organized in collaboration with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and marks the first session under the second phase of an agreement to train 1,000 Maldivian civil servants. This renewed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by India's External Affairs Minister, Dr. S. Jaishankar, and the Maldives' Foreign Minister, Mr. Moosa Zameer, for the period 2024-2029.

A total of 34 participants, including Assistant Directors, Senior Administrators, and Community Health Officers from key Maldivian ministries and departments, are attending this program. The inaugural session was chaired by Shri V. Srinivas, Director General of NCGG and Secretary of the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG). He highlighted the success of the previous phase, which trained over 1,000 Maldivian officials from 2019 to 2024.

In his address, Shri Srinivas discussed India's governance reforms under "Vision 2047" and emphasized the importance of digital technologies in improving policy-making, service delivery, and transparency. He encouraged the Maldivian officials to collaborate and present on key policies and programs being implemented in their country.

Mrs. Fathmath Inaya, Finance Executive at the Civil Service Commission of Maldives and leader of the Maldivian delegation, expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to participate in the program. Dr. BS Bisht, Associate Professor and Course Coordinator, provided an overview of NCGG’s achievements, including its role in training civil servants from 33 countries.
