Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez will visit China next month, his office announced Friday. This trip comes against the backdrop of Beijing's anti-dumping investigation into EU pork imports.
Sanchez, who is scheduled to meet President Xi Jinping during his visit from Sept. 7-12, will be joined by a deputy trade minister. The discussions are expected to touch on the ongoing trade dispute between China and the European Union.
The EU had earlier imposed provisional duties on Chinese-made electric vehicles, prompting China to launch anti-dumping investigations into EU-produced brandy, dairy, and pork products. Spain, the largest pork exporter to China within the EU, stands to lose the most if the probe leads to import restrictions.
