The Karnataka High Court on Thursday declared a CBI petition challenging the Congress government's decision to withdraw consent for investigating a disproportionate assets (DA) case against Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar as 'non-maintainable'.
The division bench, comprising Justices K Somashekar and Umesh M Adiga, also dismissed the plea against the State government's order to refer the Rs 74.93 crore DA case to the Lokayukta for investigation.
In a 67-page judgment, the High Court indicated that the issues raised should be addressed by the Supreme Court. Shivakumar, who expressed confidence in the judiciary, faced allegations of amassing disproportionate assets between 2013 and 2018, during his previous tenure as a minister in the Congress government.
