A local court has condemned the conduct of a Delhi Police official for failing to submit a forensic report despite repeated reminders, recommending departmental action against him.

The court has demanded a reply from the joint commissioner of police (central range).

Judicial Magistrate Gaurav Goyal was addressing a case from 2019, initiated by the Sadar Bazar police station, where the Delhi Police had been instructed to file the forensic science laboratory (FSL) report.

In an August 24 order, the court noted a previous reply from the deputy commissioner of police (north) stated that a request was sent to the FSL director to expedite the inquiry.

Inspector Sanjay Kumar once again sought adjournment for filing the FSL result, as it was not yet ready. The court observed that the charge sheet had been filed on November 8, 2019.

The court opined that then investigating officer sub-inspector Parveen Kumar had deliberately failed to act despite repeated reminders. Consequently, the court recommended departmental action against Parveen Kumar for neglecting the FSL examination.

The order will be sent to the joint commissioner of police (central range) for a reply under personal signature. Fresh notices were issued to the IO, the Sadar Bazar SHO, and the ACP to appear in person.

No exemptions will be entertained from these officers on the next hearing date, scheduled for September 28.
