In a recent development, Icelandic police have officially called off the search operation at an ice cave collapse site. Authorities confirmed that all 23 tourists present during the trip have been accounted for, ruling out earlier reports that suggested two individuals were missing.
Initially, police were under the impression that 25 people had been on the expedition, which led to the search for the two unaccounted persons. After a thorough examination of tour operator records, it was confirmed that no one was missing.
The ice cave collapse, which occurred shortly before 3 pm local time on Sunday, tragically resulted in one death and another individual sustaining serious injuries. Police have stated that all the ice thought to have buried people has been cleared, alleviating concerns of additional casualties.
