Maritime Alert: Uncrewed Surface Vessel Detected Near Yemen's Coast
The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported an incident involving an uncrewed surface vessel (USV) and two small boats near Yemen's Mokha. British security firm Ambrey also noted an incident near Aden. These incidents are linked to Houthi militants' actions in solidarity with Palestinians amidst the Israel-Hamas conflict.
The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported on Monday an incident occurring 61 nautical miles southeast of Yemen's Mokha. Captain of a vessel identified an uncrewed surface vessel (USV) and two small boats in proximity.
Meanwhile, British security firm Ambrey highlighted a separate incident near Yemen's Aden, approximately 80 nautical miles southwest.
Such incidents have been attributed to Iran-aligned Houthi militants targeting international shipping since November, in support of Palestinians amid the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas.
