Police Register Case Over Unauthorized Calls from Thane Court Office

A case has been registered in Thane following a complaint from the district court superintendent about unauthorized use of his office telephone to make calls, according to an official statement on Sunday.
The complaint noted that the calls, made between August 16 and 23, were directed to eight mobile numbers. The caller falsely claimed that the Bombay High Court had issued warrants against the recipients and demanded their PAN and Aadhaar details.
The police have registered the case under sections 318(2) and 319 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which pertain to cheating and impersonation, respectively. An investigation into the incident is currently underway.
