Maratha quota activist Manoj Jarange has sought discharge in a cheating and criminal breach of trust case related to a monetary dispute over a Marathi play in 2013. Maratha quota activist Manoj Jarange has formally filed for discharge in a Pune court regarding a cheating case. The case, which dates back to a 2013 monetary dispute over a Marathi play, has sparked legal debate.

The legal charges include Indian Penal Code sections 420 (cheating) and 406 (criminal breach of trust) against Jarange and two others. The court had previously issued a non-bailable warrant (NBW) against Jarange, which was cancelled in August following his court appearance.

Jarange's lawyers, Harshad and Shivam Nimbalkar, argue that there is no prima facie case against him, and the invoked sections are inapplicable. They also claim that the initial court order was both faulty and illegal. With the complainant no longer alive, the court has proposed a compromise and scheduled the next hearing for September 24.
