The BJP has accused the Karnataka Congress government of failing to maintain law and order, alleging a surge in murders, extortion, and rapes. The state BJP on Saturday claimed the deteriorating situation has emboldened criminals, who no longer fear the police.

The principal opposition party also cited the alleged kidnapping, drugging, and rape of a 24-year-old woman in Karkala, Udupi district, as a glaring example of the current breakdown in law and order.

'The law and order situation has deteriorated significantly after the Congress came to power,' said BJP General Secretary and Karkala MLA Sunil Kumar. 'Growing drug mafias and expanding jihadi mindsets are major concerns.'

Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Assembly R Ashoka echoed these sentiments, claiming that there is no protection for Hindus and instances of rape and murder are being covered up.

'If the government can't send a warning message to criminals, what message does their silence send?' he questioned.
