The FBI is delving into an August 11 drive-by shooting that targeted California activist Satinder Pal Singh Raju, who has strong ties to the Sikh separatist movement. This follows the high-profile killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar last year, an event that Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau suggested may have connections to India, stoking diplomatic tensions between the two nations.

Raju, in an interview with Reuters, recounted the harrowing ordeal. He and two friends were attacked on Interstate 505 South in Yolo County while returning from dinner in Vacaville. Their vehicle was shot at multiple times by a white car, leading them to veer off the road and seek refuge behind a haystack while calling 911. Raju noted similarities between this attack and Nijjar's assassination, implying a possible link.

The FBI confirmed it is collaborating with the California Highway Patrol on this case. Amid ongoing investigations, the incident also resonates with a broader pattern of threats against Sikh activists, intensifying since Nijjar's death. Raju, an active member of Sikhs for Justice, remains undeterred, vowing to continue his advocacy for the Khalistan referendum despite attempts to instill fear.
